Blades were brandished, arrows at the ready along the line, polearms lining the front of the snorting steeds. The tension was thick as four horses approached from each side, wading through the thick, tall grass nearly brushing the stirrups. From the other side four work horses carried Huo, the towering Lang, and two hooded figures. Everyone dismounted and stepped forward. The wind whipped through the forbidden army 's banners, the waves of grass and horses snorted impatiently.

Then even the wind stopped, as if all of nature held its breath before the coming cataclysm.
