CHAPTER XLVI: Foolish Hope

In the end, Anya

did

get the dagger for her birthday. The following weekend, she had her own birthday with her close friends and uncles coming to have a picknick in the park near her home, Becky most enthusiastic of all. The week after was her mother 's birthday.

Weeks went by, Anya and Damian spent plenty of time sneaking around Eden and his 'small ' apartment (the size of her family 's apartment even though he lived alone but he had just shrugged it off). They needed to let out the steam from the stress of the finals, after all, and he helped her study a lot. Especially biology. And physics. And chemistry. She also spent an occasional weekend meeting with Diana and Dafni, the latter had decided to give her a few lessons on how to behave in high society, how to become a lady.

Finals arrived and were done, and finally, the weekend Anya had feared and hoped for arrived.
