CHAPTER LXIX: Love Story Part II

Snow might fall soon. It was on everyone 's tongues. A white Christmas. It made everyone smile, even if the shadow and scar of the war were still raw. Most of the bombings had ceased, but there still were occasional attacks nearby. The road was fixed.

Daniel was mostly healed, he could even run. He had long talked to Gilbert and received his blessing, but they had kept their relationship as it had always been ' slow, soft, and healing. Daniel and Evelyn had kissed again, they spent many nights in the same bed, but nothing happened besides holding each other and exploring their mouths and necks.

He had received the letter from his commander. He 'd return to the front after the New Year.

For the first time in her life, Evelyn dreaded Christmas. It 'd bring the New Year far too close. And then Daniel would leave.
