CHAPTER XLI: Oaths

Anya 's world was shattering into pieces all over again, and yet, everyone was smiling and laughing around her. She was in a bubble of absolute distress while everyone kept on living, unaware of her silent screams and invisible tears. Or the way she wanted to tear off her face.

A hand grabbed hers. It surprised her so much she immediately pulled away. Her cocoon of misery disappeared, and everyone 's noise and thoughts rushed back into her mind.

Damian watched her worriedly.

Her breathing became short and heavy. Tears burnt her eyes.

'Anya? ' Damian called, leaning forward.

Everyone turned their attention to her. Too much attention, too much gazing, curious and questioning, she felt like she was being observed by the people of COEUS all over again.

She stood up suddenly and ran out of the room.

Damian immediately tried to follow her, but Loid held him back.
