Anya explained quickly what she had overheard from the bodyguard before they left for the horse race. Demetrius was barely unfazed by the situation and not wishing to ruin his day of fun because of one potential assassin.

The way to the Deutsches Derby in Hanburg was quiet and by the time they arrived, they had all recovered from the accident. They were all, to some extent, used to danger, although they didn 't share the reasons why with one another.

Because the Desmonds (and Forgers) were VIP, they went to see the horses directly before the race. Diana and Damian ended up falling into a vivid debate on which horse was most promising, asking many questions to the jockeys and checking the horses ' conditions.
