CHAPTER XXXVIII: The Promise of 'Someday '

Anya was awkwardly sitting on the couch, waiting for her parents ' long talk in their bedroom to be finished. Eventually, there was silence. Then, they came back, Yor smiling a little forcefully and Loid looking both terrified and about to kill something.

They sat down in front of Anya, avoiding her gaze.

' 'Am I in trouble? ' she asked when the silence went on.

'Of course not ' '

'Still undecided, ' Loid cut his wife.

She glanced at him pointedly and he looked away, crossing his arms.

' 'Were you

safe? '

he asked, visibly upset about the whole event.

Anya swallowed hard, heart drumming painfully and her cheeks burning in absolute mortification.

'We didn 't do

it,

if that 's what you 're asking. I 'm still a virgin. '
