CHAPTER XXXII: War & Peace ' Part I

Eight years ago '

Damian ran as fast as his legs, at eight years old, could take him. He

was

the fastest runner in his grade, after all. He had rarely been so happy to be back to the Desmond Estate. Servants and butlers greeted him as he passed, smiling cheerfully to see him back and so eager.

'Father!

Father! '

Damian called out.

The moment he had stepped out of the car and had been told his father was

home

, he had gone off running.

He didn 't even bother asking where he 'd be, running up the stairs and sliding through the halls until he arrived, out of breath, in front of the big wooden double doors of his office. It was closed, as usual. Clenching and unclenching his fists, Damian gathered his courage to raise his hand against the door and knocked three times. Short and determined.
