As the door opened, a gust of hot, wet air blew out. It buffeted Dazai 's hair back and forced a serious frown onto his face. It reeked 'whatever was behind this door smelled something awful. Dazai steeled himself. With one last look to each of his subordinates, he let the door swing all the way open.

It was dark. Dazai squinted trying to force his eyes to adjust faster. Taking a tentative step forward pushed him another foot into the darkness. Were there no lights in here? Where would the first of the professors ' guards be? Dazai worried the thought with a frown, the uncertainty itching at him.

'Can you guys see anything? ' One of the twins asked.

Dazai shrugged, then corrected himself, 'No. Can one of you cast ' '

Before he could finish, the frantic beat of wings overhead cut him off. Dazai instinctively looked up, but only managed to see the flash of Egg 's black wings diving overhead before immediately vanishing into the shadows.
