Chapter 12 - Distraction
The last time Yor was this excited for a mission was her very first mission back when she was still a naive young girl who thought assassinations were badass and awesome like they showed on TV. Her immaturity didn't cause her to underestimate the gravity of her task though ' 'the mission
did
end in a success; however, that was the day she learned the
terror
of looking into the barrel of a gun, seconds away from receiving a bullet to the head, and the sensation of slitting someone's throat open and soaking her face in blood.
She had been carrying the stench of blood with her ever since, the feeling of dried blood caking her face and hair, the taste of blood in her mouth and nose, and no amount of water and soap could wash it off of her. That was the day she learned assassinations weren't a game ' 'anything that had to do with human lives wasn't a game and shouldn't be treated as such ' 'and her excitement dwindled with every new mission.
