He was only trying to organize the library when it happened, enjoying the quiet and the soothing repetition of the task at hand after spending the better part of his day surrounded by howling children. Field trip days were not his favorite. No matter how much Iruka adored being a teacher, even he had a limit to how much he was willing to deal with before he lost his patience.

There was nothing suspicious about the scroll except that it had no label of any kind. Curious by nature, it was nigh on impossible for Iruka to resist the urge to open it up. In retrospect it would register as strange that out of all the numerous unlabeled documents in this dusty, forgotten corner of the school library, this was the one which caught his attention. He couldn 't really explain why either; he felt drawn to it for some reason, as though it called to him in a language he could only understand at the very bottom of his soul.
