'Even I feel pity towards children. ' She said the words so smoothly, he wondered if she 'd been rehearsing them.
'Is that so? And here I thought your teacher forbade you touching dead bodies. ' He couldn 't resist reminding her of something she 'd said long ago. Her gaze dropped, and she flinched the tiniest bit. It suddenly struck him how truly odd her insistence on staying with the dead children was, and he added, 'If he felt the need to impose such a rule, I 'm curious to know why you 've stayed here so long. '
