If time first seemed to be trickling by at a snail 's pace, it soon speeds up. As the darkness extends from days to weeks, you lose track of it.

All normal escapes you and soon, in your mind this becomes your world. A small, insulated bubble of just you and a man you love who 'll forever remain out of your grasp.

You would 've thought that spending weeks upon weeks in the darkness with little to do would expand your mind and allow you to plunge to the depths of your own psyche.

Instead, your thinking gets more shallow. Laboured. It 's difficult to maintain a long string of thought, you get lost midway and arrive back where you started, confused and frustrated.

You wonder if that means you 're slowly losing your sanity.

You place a thoughtful hand on your stomach. It 's definitely flatter than it used to be. The first few weeks were maddening, but now you hardly feel the hunger anymore.
