Chapter 44 - The Fall
Zeke has bathed voluntarily for a change. Usually, Reiner gently tugs him to the bath and stands guard until Zeke begrudgingly washes up.
He hates looking at his arms. He prefers to keep his body concealed from even his own eyes.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, he 's poured himself a cup of wine. He usually doesn 't bother with a glass, but he wants to appear at least moderately civilised.
His lips are cracked, signalling the dehydration of his body caused by the excessive alcohol. He 's bouncing his leg on the ball of his foot, tense eyes fixated ahead.
He feels lucid, which is good. The last thing he wants is for his mother to see how utterly pitiful her son has become.
Levi is still out from the operation. He 's tightly contained in the operation room but upon waking up and being examined, he should be good to go.
